Yet Another State of Emergency....
Just wanted to update you all on our situation here in Southern IN.
Matthew's school has been closed for the past two days...and probably tomorrow too. My work has also been canceled due to the roads being bad. Sadly, I don't get paid for snow days!
Tuesday...we had a nice, powdery snow (maybe 3 inches?). Matthew & I shoveled the driveway & took the cats out to see the snow. We even made it to the grocery. My husband is a very good driver in the snow :)
Tuesday night...our area was hit with an ice storm. We woke this morning to our river birch branches and broken all over the front yard. There is a branch on the roof too. We are thankful though, no damage was done to the house and the tree will most likely be able to survive. It just might look funny. We shall see when all this melts. My parents have lost power in their neighborhood. Lots of people around here have lost power.... but so far, we have ours.
The weather reports are not looking good for the rest of the week. Snow is now falling atop the 1/2 inch of ice coating trees & power lines. The temperatures won't be above freezing for at least a few more days.
So...yeah. We are thankful to be safe at home, still with power. We are also lucky not to have a tree sticking out of the top of our house! We are doing fine. Just wanted to let you all know.
Those of you living in Chicago, Colorado, etc...probably have seen 1000xs this mess. Unfortunately, our area is a big sissy about winter...and we don't do so well! One thing for sure, Louisvillians can NOT drive in the snow.
The plan for today is to get some paperwork/grading done, bake bread, clean-up in the yard, if we can, and just stay in-doors.
I'll post some pictures later :)
Peace.

The year is well on its way...and I have already done a couple of my "not to-do" list items. Old habits die hard, I suppose. It feels like no matter how hard I paddle this month, I just can not stay ahead of the current. Life keeps getting faster, busier, more chaotic. I keep wondering how I ever took and entire month of Saturdays and spent them browsing wal-mart & hanging out at my grandma's house!? And oh how I wish I could go and do that every Saturday again...instead of playing catch up with the house and paperwork and such.
I did get to have a relaxing morning...just at the expense of going to see some of my family. I hate having to make that choice. There should just be enough time...for everything...always. HA. Talking to Sarah really made my day though...we finally got a catch-up call in after a week of phone tag. She caught me up on student teaching & I caught her up on work/the house. I really miss being able to just go out and meet her at a coffee shop...or for that matter, seeing her everyday! Seeing everyone at new year's has made me so nostalgic this month!
I finished the Twilight series this week! I know I know...can you hear the teenage girls swooning at the mere mention of the book? The thing is, it was a really good series. I was engulfed in it for nearly a month....I read each book in about a week, with a break in between for Christmas. And now that I am finished, I can't seem to find a book to peak my interest in quite the same way. I may go for a classic...something I probably should have read long ago. Maybe I will re-read Marley & Me before seeing the movie.
Matthew & our friend Aaron have been out rock climbing alllll day today. I am wondering if they ever plan to return! Hopefully he won't be exhausted....cause I want to rearrange the living room tonight! I am also thinking ice skating would be fun. haha...always scheming.
Enough time spent on here...xoxo to you all. peace, jess.
